Pierced & Embraced – Women Ministries Fall Retreat 2019 Portage Lake

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.” – John 11:25

October 4-6, 2019

How would you describe the love of God? Sometimes that love feels like a warm embrace. Sometimes it is more like a piercing jab. Always, it changes everything. This weekend we will dig deep into several encounters that Jesus had with a wide veriety of women in the Gospels to show how His love can be equally transformative in our lives today.

To those who are hurried, burdened, driven and weary, Jesus offers a different rhythm, a rhythm of grace and rest, slowness and renewal. But how do we embrace that invitation when so many demands and concerns press in upon us? Who has time to linger?

Sharon Garlough Brown, author of the Sensible Shoes series, will lead us in an exploration of practices that help us slow down and savor the presence of God, not just for a weekend, but in the midst of our daily lives. Come and discover a new rhythm of keeping company with Jesus.

Come and linger

Fall Renewals

Mission Meadows Fall Retreat

Mission Meadows Fall Retreat

Sometimes it takes getting away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life to be able to listen to the voice of God and grow closer to Him.  Sometimes you need the presence of others to help you process God’s Word and build Christian relationships.  In September there are two opportunities for you to do just that.

  • September 18-20 at Mission Meadows Camp in Dewittville NY.  The theme is Good Humor and Dawn Swanson is the speaker.  She truly believes that laughter is the best medicine and that God really does have a sense of humor.
  • September 25-27 at Portage Lake Camp in Onekama, MI.  The theme is A New Heart: Seasoned to Serve and Rev. Kanyere Eaton is the speaker.  Rev. Eaton is the pastor of Fellowship Covenant Church in the Bronx.  Known for her down-to-earth style and engaging delivery, she has preached, taught and led workshops in churches across the United States as well as in Korea and South Africa.

Daily Verse

  • 1 Timothy 2:5-6 March 28, 2020

So we are almost done with our first week of mandatory shelter-in-place and end of our second week of voluntary shelter-in-place. Kinda starting to understand why pets try to run out of the house when the front door opens.

I keep hearing all sorts of good things that are going on. Keep it up!

One neighborhood banded together and brought 'Elsa' to visit houses that had smaller children. She stayed outside and sang and danced for the kids. The kids were so thrilled that 'Elsa' came to see them!

We all need something to look forward to in these dark days. These days will not last. We will come out of it.
